I really hate Updating programs any more , in the past you would look forward to a update or a bug fix but today its like these companies are more interested in adding more bloat and not to much of anything else.

Today i was sitting here and like any other day i loaded my Yahoo Messenger client up it asks me if i want to update. For months now i have been putting it off because i knew the above was true. You would get this more fancy more bloated piece of shit to replace your old less fancy less bloated piece of shit.

Today though i bit the bullet and said the hell with it i will download the latest version and run that. So i download it and set it up and hopped on chat and 5 minutes after being on chat the spam starts. If you haven’t had the joy of being sent hundreds of messages over several hours of chat then you truly have no idea what your missing. I figured in this “latest” version of the program they would have curbed the spam but as i clearly seen today that still isn’t the case.

Putting up with the spam problem really does make the text chat for yahoo rather useless. If you want to go into a room and then message someone real fast and leave you may get away with out the spam bots noticing your were their. Keep in mind some times they will message you several minutes after leaving the room and you haven’t even gone into another room.

Another thing that gets on my nerves is why the deleted the user created rooms. From what i seen on the news the perverts were having a hey day with the user created rooms and so yahoo in all its brilliance decided to get rid of the rooms. So you maybe thinking well they did that so they could monitor the official rooms right? Well guess what they don’t do that either. So now all the perverts that were in the user created rooms will head over to the standard rooms since none of them are monitored.

The reason i think they ain’t monitored is do to the spam if every room had a active admin the rooms would consist of clean talk and no spam bots however this is CLEARLY not the case. You go into any of the rooms and you get the typical X rated text flying across the screen plus you get the spam bots..

On top of all this bullshit they decided to make the voice chat so it doesn’t mute the mic automatically when your not talking. So what you end up with is any time someone is talking to you they get to listen to them selfs feedback through your mic and headphones. This got so annoying for me tonight i went and used MSN messenger from Microsoft and with that you can have a decent conversation without feedback from the headphones to the mic. Don’t think for 2 seconds i like the Microsoft msn client because other then the audio on it i think its a hunk of crap as well.

Back to yahoo though i don’t know how hey are going to fix their spam problem when your in a chat room. The only thing i can think of is implement some sort of random phrase every so often you have to type in or get disconnected from chat. You could also make the phrase like you see when say making a forum login and password where you get the graphic text thats distorted and you have to read it and enter that text in. This would at least cut back on some of the bots but would make the yahoo users a bit pissed if you had to keep entering in a phrase to continue to chat.

Well thats it for me venting on this issue. Anyone who wants a chat client i would NOT recommend this one if your after text chat..
